In a nutshell… a business leases a fully maintained electric car for it’s employee, who covers the cost with a monthly salary deduction taken before tax. The scheme is an attractive method of delivering a tax-efficient benefit to employees and employers, by allowing the cost of the car to be deducted at gross. It also boosts employee engagement and the employer’s green credentials, at no cost to the business.

We offer a range of finance products to suit your accounting and financial requirements, whether you want to own the vehicle at the end of the contract or not. Our most popular finance option by far is Contract Hire, or ‘leasing’.
Essentially leasing (or Contract Hire) is a long-term hire of a vehicle, for a pre-selected period of time, and mileage allowance. Typically, it includes road tax (increases announced during the contract are passed on), and you opt to include maintenance, repairs (except accidental), tyres, and even insurance.
We all have our favourite, trusted car brand, but choosing the right EV needs a bit more consideration rather than which brand it is, how big it is, its fuel economy, your budget, and if you need parking sensors or sat nav for example.
The added factors to consider are:
We’re here to help.
There are a few types of electric vehicles (EV). Some run purely on electricity, and others on a combination of electricity and petrol or diesel, called hybrid electric vehicles.
Battery (BEV) – This means the car runs solely on electricity and gets all its power from a battery, which is plugged in to recharge. They don’t produce any exhaust emissions like traditional cars.
Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) – These cars have a small electric range, which needs to be plugged into an electricity source to recharge their battery, but also have a traditional fuel engine that utilises petrol or diesel to keep you moving if you run out of charge, or if you reach certain speeds and acceleration. When running on fuel, these cars will produce emissions but when they’re running on electricity, they won’t.
Hybrid (HEV) – These cars run on petrol or diesel but also have an electric battery too, which is recharged through regenerative braking. These let you extend your fuel economy by automatically switching to EV mode at certain speeds and if enough battery power is available.
Charging options vary from a domestic 3-pin socket which charges at 3.7kW per hour, to a super-rapid which charges at 250kW per hour. The choice for you will be dependent on whether you have access to private ChargePoints, whether you are on a long journey, and what the charge-speed capacity of your vehicle’s battery.

Lead time varies depending on many factors, such as the manufacturer’s build schedules, logistics, and stock availability. We will try and provide a vehicle at the appropriate time for you according to your requirements, however, this is not always possible. What we do promise though, is to be honest with you from the start.
Discovery – A short discovery call or meeting with one of our knowledgeable team will enable us to establish your requirements for the vehicle and finance type before quoting.
Credit – If you’re happy with the quote we will need to establish a suitable credit line through an online finance application.
Order – Following finance acceptance you will check T&Cs and sign your order form online, At which point we secure your vehicle and finance package at the quoted rate.
Finance Agreement – We will assist you with authorising your credit agreement with the finance company, which is usually done via e-sign.
Delivery – We’ll keep you updated and when your vehicle arrives, we will arrange delivery to your door. In most cases, your payments will be taken by DD after delivery.
A pre-registered vehicle is if your vehicle has been registered more than a week before your delivery.
Pre-registered vehicles can effect your MOT and warranty period. As these are taken from the date the vehicle was first registered and not the date of delivery to yourself.
Please see our In Contract section for further details on the MOT and warranty information.
If you are unsure please contact us.

No, a specific time for delivery cannot usually be specified.
You will need to be available throughout the day of your delivery date. The delivery driver and delivery company will have your contact number and should contact you prior to delivery to inform you of an estimated time of arrival. This call cannot be guaranteed, however, which is why we advise our customers to ensure that there is someone available to take delivery throughout the day.
Your mileage allowance starts on delivery.
If your vehicle is driven to you, there will be delivery mileage on your new vehicle. This will not be included in your annual mileage within your contract. Your contract with the finance company will start from the moment you accept the delivery; the delivery mileage will be recorded on the delivery sheet, and this will be the point your mileage allowance begins.
Yes, it is your responsibility to make sure the vehicle is insured comprehensively.
It is worth noting when arranging your insurance that the registered keeper and owner of the vehicle will be the finance company, details of which can be found in your finance documents and delivery confirmation email. They will retain the registration document.
New vehicles don’t usually show up on online registration number searches using many online insurance quoting systems. It is usually better to give them a call to request a quote, as they should be aware that as a new vehicle it won’t yet be searchable using the registration number, so will require manual input of the vehicle details and value to retrieve a quote. We will confirm this information within your delivery confirmation email.
Road Tax is included for the duration of your contract at the current rate.
The finance company will tax your vehicle each year. You will not be required to take any action.
Should road tax rates increase during your contract, the difference will be passed on to you by the funder.
Standard manufacturer breakdown cover is included for the first year.
If you have opted to include maintenance, you will receive breakdown cover throughout your contract.
Details of your vehicle breakdown cover will be found in the vehicle handbook, in your vehicle’s onboard system, and sometimes in the driver’s door well.
If you have opted to include maintenance, you should contact the provider or finance company who will arrange this for you.
Servicing must be carried out at an approved garage or main dealer.
New vehicles usually have a service warning light to alert you when a service is due. Manufactures will usually have a centralised service records that will hold your service information in a digital format. However, some still issue service books, which should be in your vehicle on delivery.
If in doubt please contact your local dealer to confirm the service schedule, as they will hold the most up to date information.
If you have added a maintenance package, this will usually be provided by the finance company and they will provide details of how to get in touch with them to arrange services, maintenance, or tyres in the handbook. If in doubt, please contact us.
New vehicles do not need an MOT until 3 years after registration, which is likely to fall in your contract period.
Once your vehicle is 3 years old, you will need an MOT every year. If your vehicle was pre-registered the vehicle MOT is effective from the date the vehicle was first registered and not the date of delivery to yourself.
If you opt to include maintenance the MOT will be covered, alongside servicing etc.
If you are unsure of when your vehicle was registered, please contact us.
